Montevideo, Uruguay

 Visited highlights of Montevideo by bus and then attended a murga with a carnival -style choral musical group (usually sings mainly in the streets offering humorous songs to the city during their 40 days of Carnival).  Included with this chorus was a visit to the Carnival museum showing other carnival clothing.  Colorful, fun,silly and outlandish.

Murga entertainment with a chorus of about 10 and all ranges of voices.  They blended and harmonized so well....it was fun. A traditional murga group is composed of a chorus and three percussionists and this is the type of murga performed on stages at Carnival.  The percussion instruments are a shallow bass drum , snare drum and cymbals.  The show was thoroughly entertaining and upbeat.

Costumes displayed in the museum:

Lots of parks within the city....a little bit like Savannah with their parks.

Several Art Deco buildings that were being maintained (a lot better than other buildings I have to say)

Glass building - the varied blue colors reminded Bob of ocean colors

Many container ships coming and going

Uruguayan naval ships

Dead shipyard in the dock area....listing, rusting, sinking....
